I didn’t have scale access over the weekend. I’m not too terribly disappointed in the difference from Thursday to Tuesday, though. I made (mostly) smart food choices over the weekend and rode my bike twice. I never drink enough water when I’m at my parent’s house, and we eat dinner too late. Add that to the onset of Shark Week and I’m back where I started SOS. But I feel like I’m making small progress because I’m being more conscious and deliberate about the food choices I make, and I’m making time for exercise.
Still 10 pounds to go for 4n4.

Two can be as bad as one. It’s the loneliest number since the number one.

One is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do…
Trying to decide if what I just did indicates “playing it safe” or “epic fail”. I’m leaning towards the former.
Went for a bike ride this morning. I carried water, but clearly not enough. I also rode 3 miles out on the trail not considering I’d then have to ride back. I’m about 1.25 miles from my car right now. But I’m feeling clammy and shaky, and I’m out of water. I’m also starting to feel a little nauseous. So I called my dad to come and get me. I feel like a dumbass. I mean seriously… Couldn’t I make it the mile and change back to my car? But I don’t think I can. Rather than chance it I’m going to say I played it safe. I’m sitting in the shade and trying not to cry.
I’ll think about the positive. I rode 5 miles this morning. That’s the farthest I’ve ever gone. Usually it’s easy for me to talk myself out of exercise while I’m here, but today I didn’t. I need to remind myself that I’m still an overweight woman trying to get her shit together, not a seasoned athlete- so it’s ok to cut myself a little slack. Overall, this morning is a win.

Mid-bike ride. Ugly as this photo is, it accurately captures my feelings. Holy hell is it hot out here. And I need bug spray- skeeters and gnats abound and they are sticking to my sweat. Is it time to turn back for the car yet??
They are surprisingly good! They taste just like gummy bears. Directions say to have two a day, so I eat one one the morning and one at night. I may get some gummy vitamins too.
Hydration (and vitamin) nudge. Because I never seem to drink enough water when I’m at my parent’s house.
I’ve been trying to drink only water for the last couple of days. But today I have a nagging headache and I thought a little caffeine might help. So, I decided to “think quik” and hit up QT for a drink. Summer prices are here, so I got this unsweet tea for only 69 cents. Pity it’s not helping the headache.
I have PCOS, and one of the symptoms I exhibit, among other things, is a higher than normal testosterone level. (I’ll be honest, I didn’t even really realize that women had testosterone before I was diagnosed with PCOS.)
So basically, this is exactly how I need to be training for optimal results, since I’m trying to lower my testosterone and insulin levels. My doctors keep telling me why I should eat a lower carb diet, and I get it - really, I do. It just never quite “clicked” like it did just now when I read this from Brooksy. So thanks! :)

John Welbourn creator of Crossfit Football program. Pretty good article on grub.
Basically, if your goal is to have the testosterone levels of a 10 year old girl train multiple times a day, 6 days a week and avoid carbs like herpes on Spring Break.

This morning’s weigh in:
5/21: 249.0
5/22: 250.0
5/23: 248.5
5/24: 247.5 (-1.5 total…8.5 till goal)
Moving in the right direction! Tomorrow morning through Sunday I’ll be in a land without scales, so I won’t have a daily weigh-in. Unless I take my scales with me… now there’s a thought!
Either way, I’m going to do my best to stay on track this weekend and not undo a week’s worth of small progress. There’s a bike trail near my parent’s house, so I’m hoping to get out there this weekend and get more comfortable on my bike. I need to get a helmet (they’re oddly required on the trail, but not on the roadway… I don’t get that).
Edited to add: This is my 200th post! I’m trying to get the hang of posting more frequently :)
